North Carolina is known as the Tar Heel State because of its history as a leading producer of turpentine for the naval industry.  Back then, turpentine, the main ingredient for tar and pitch, was used for waterproofing boats. Who knew?
North Carolina’s state bird is the cardinal.
North Carolina’s state vegetable is the sweet potato.
North Carolina’s state sport is stock car racing.

Well, that might be true 51 weeks out of the year, but the weekend of October 1-3, 2021, those cars will need to pull over. The USA Dance Carolina Fall Classic DanceSport Championships will be happening in Charlotte, and this ballroom dance competition promises to be North Carolina’s sporting event of the year!

This will be the 12th annual Carolina Fall Classic (CFC) and organizers Wayne and Marie Crowder, famous for their well-organized competitions and fabulous Southern Hospitality, are anxious to deliver the true competitive experience. They promise this year’s competition will be especially exciting and will attract dancers from across the country. Along with being a National Qualifying Event, CFC will be hosting the Nationals for age groups Preteen to Youth, including Solo Proficiency categories.

The Crowders again chose the Hilton Charlotte University Place Hotel for their competition. This proven venue is perfect for a USA Dance event, providing a large main ballroom with many areas for a sizable practice floor, vendor area, changing rooms, and more. The hotel features a lake front and over 80 different dining and local shopping venues. There is something for everyone and you only have to step out the door to relax after your event.

CFC is one of USA Dance’s premier competitions and has been a USA Dance National Qualifying event since 2008. It is also the competition that many refer to as their “favorite”. Each year, the Crowders and their great team of volunteers bring together strong competitors, loud spectators, great vendors, and high-quality performances! Preteen to Senior V, newcomer to Championship level…all enjoy great dancing and great people!

There is really something for everyone at this event! But if you are not convinced, take a look at this video:
